Do you know something about letterpress? Are you interested in the classic methods of printing? Why not join us at our next meeting? We typically meet at 7:00pm on the fourth Wednesday of every month.
The .918 Club includes men and women with a wide variety of printing experience. We demonstrate printing in America circa 1920 in the Heritage Press Museum in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. We plan, design, and print jobs. We also collect donated equipment and restore it to working order. We fill our free time with visits to other print shops and sites of interest to the group.
And now, people of all ages are re-discovering the science and art of letterpress printing. Our Club meets monthly to share techniques, projects, and ways to enrich our community. Whether you are a beginner or master craftsperson or enjoy learning and teaching new things, the .918 Club offers a unique experience where the mechanical and artistic meet, connect, grow, and create.
Dues are $25 annually.
The Heritage Press Museum is open four days a week and the first and third Friday evenings. We need volunteer demonstrators to share the letterpress experience with visitors. You will be given a short training program to prepare you for being a demonstrator. If you are a member and you are interested in volunteering, please email us for details.
If, as part of your involvement with the club, you plan to volunteer to work with people under the age of 18 (i.e., Boy Scout Graphic Arts Merit Badge workshops), you would need to fulfill the Pennsylvania Act 153 (Act 153) requiring employees, volunteers, and other individuals who have routine contact with minors to obtain three different background certifications:
Pennsylvania Criminal History Check through the Pennsylvania State Police (PATCH);
Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Check through the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services; and,
FBI Criminal History Check requires individuals to submit their fingerprints to the FBI.
